Neil Schofield - Principal
BSc (Hons), MSc, MAusIMM,
MAAMG, MAIG
Neil is a consulting geologist and geostatistician with
twenty-eight years experience in mineral exploration and mining. For the past
fifteen years, his work has focused on the application of geostatistical methods
to earth science problems in industry. He has a MSc. in Geostatistics from
Stanford University and has written several papers and articles on the practice
and application of geostatistics. He is a founding partner of FSS International
and H&S, and jointly manages the operations of H&S
from their Sydney office.
Some of his mining related work has included:
 | estimation of recoverable resources for major base metal, silver and gold
mines and exploration projects in Australia, Africa and South East Asia
|
 | the development of appropriate models for the evaluation of resources for
underground mining of deep extensions to major open pit mines
|
 | pioneering the implementation of optimisation methods for ore selection in
grade control for open pit mines based on maximisation of expected profit
|
 | the review and audit of resource estimates for joint venture opportunities
and bankable feasibility studies
|
 | teaching of short courses in the theory and application of geostatistics
to both university students and to practitioners in the mining and petroleum
industries
|
 | development of appropriate estimation methods for deposits which show both
complex geology and extreme grade variations
|
 | resource estimation and grade control in multi commodity deposits such as
copper-gold and silver-lead-zinc
