MUPANE AND SIGNAL HILL GOLD DEPOSITS, BOTSWANA
GALLERY GOLD LIMITED
Gallery Gold is evaluating gold deposits in the Tati Greenstone Belt, near
Francistown, Botswana. A substantial program of RC and diamond drilling was
undertaken in 2001.
In January 2002, Hellman & Schofield undertook resource estimates for
four deposits: Mupane areas 1 and 2, and Signal Hill A and F zones. The Mupane
deposits comprise structurally controlled gold mineralisation associated with
silicified zones in BIFs. Resource estimation is complicated by the fact that
the entire volume of BIF is not mineralised and the understanding of structural
controls on mineralisation is at a preliminary stage. Mupane Area 1 hosts the
bulk of mineralisation presently known.
The Signal Hill deposits lie about 15 kilometres ESE of Mupane. Gold occurs in a
shear zone in conglomerate and metawackes over about 1500 metres strike length.
Total resources at the four prospects presently stand at 9.4Mt @ 3g/t Au, above
1g/t cut-off. Gallery Gold is undertaking an economic scoping study and has
scheduled infill drilling to commence in March 2002. A number of other nearby
gold occurrences are likely to eventually contribute to total resources.
